Knowing when and how.

It's very important to know how to use words in their right context. And even more so when you're sending out a mass email.

So the next time you wish to use big words like "vital" and "tertiary", do check that you use them right.

Example of wrong usage:
"Although studies is a vital part of tertiary students, we should not neglect exercise!"

The first part of the sentence itself contains so many errors, it's actually quite sad. (and also a tad hilarious.)

Just like where I found someone wanting to use a big word, and not knowing exactly how it fits.

"My face is chubby here, but hair doesnt look too bad albeit infact it is."

My advice? Stick to easy words. Unless you REALLY know how to use the big guns. Otherwise, you'll end up seeming more like a fool than before.

Disgustingly cheap eggs.

Today I went to Supabarn to buy some groceries for home.

First thing I saw : 2 FOR $3.00 EGGS!

I'm like HOLY COW. That's lower than the already disgusting $1.99 that's been going on for the past 2-3 weeks.

So I happily bought the disgustingly priced eggs.

I got home, showed Shuey the disgustingly cheap stuff, and she went "OH MY GOODNESS XIN THESE EGGS EXPIRE IN TWO DAYS!".

Oh, shite.

Dreams.

Whether achievable or not, I would like to get most of these stuff done by...you know...whenever. No, this is not some sort of a tag where I write down 15 dreams of mine and tag 15 people so that they have to write 15 dreams of theirs.

I've just recently decided or rather started to think about the things I want to do in life. Yes, being restless and aimless helps you do that.

So then I've decided on a short-term list and a long-term one.

And here's the long term one (in no particular order). If you even remotely want to know, then read on, otherwise, have a nice day! =)

  • Open my own business.
  • Get a law degree and practice as a barrister.
  • Skydive.
  • Bungee jump.
  • Start a family with the love of my life, oh and find the love of my life before doing that.
  • Ensure my parents have a chance to tour the world.
  • Earn a paycheck with at least 7 figures (not including the -00).
  • Go white water rafting down some major rapids.
  • Walk down a street in a city where it snows.
  • Learn to scuba dive.
  • Enter The Amazing Race with an awesome partner.
  • Be really really really good at something and getting international recognition for whatever it is.
  • Volunteer to serve for a good cause in a third world country.
  • Ride a horse.
  • Ride the waves.
  • Change someone's life for the better.
  • Write to PostSecret.
  • Learn belly dancing.
  • Visit the seven wonders of the world, both the ancient and the modern.
  • Dare to wear a bikini out to the beach.
[more to come as I think of them...last updated 28 March]

Sad no life medical people.

I just noticed this on my brother's Facebook status update:

Chee Chun Tan what's the prognosis of a multiple post-resuscitated laptop?

Sigh. So sad la. Laptop also must talk in med talk. Wrong field la brother.

Good times.

I was just in the Unilodge Common Room and was browsing through Classifieds, cause it's just such a fun thing to do.

And then I came across this ad:

"Services
English language tuition
Just come (or returned) to Australia and want to make your English even better while you're here? It will sure make study easier.
I'm an Economics student with a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from International House in Budapest.
I am happy to focus on English on any vocabulary areas or grammar points that interest you. I'm sure we can find good times between our subjects."

Wow. Not only does the person offer tutoring. He also offers GOOD TIMES.

What a bonus!

Shhh...

The silence that sets in ever so often nowadays, I don't like.

Yet it keeps happening.

Pandora's box.

Today I finally completed my health check that is required by the Australian Government for my PR application.

And at the end of it, I was given this envelope. It contained the results of my health check.

Then at the back you see:

BUT...the DIAC says we don't have to send it over cause they have an electronic copy of the results sent to them.

So basically, I have this envelope which states DO NOT OPEN but I'm just keeping it.

For all I know, it's empty pieces of paper stuffed inside. Wooooo...so curious.

Oh. On another note, while I was waiting for my turn at the doctor's this morning, I overheard on this morning talk show that they were going to change Dora the Explorer's look. Apparently she has to grow up with the kids to fit with the tweens who have grown since.

Just one problem. The new Dora has jewellery and a flimsy skirt on. Oh, and she has long hair too. How la to solve mysteries and save the environment?

Weird day out.

Okay. So besides the funny newbies I overheard at the bus interchange this morning, there were two more funny/interesting episodes when I was out to City earlier this afternoon.

1. There were this group of youngsters. They look young-ish. Like secondary school age types. One of them was half naked. And they were shouting at each other in public at Garema Place. Until EVERYONE up till Oporto side could hear them. They were just screaming vulgar words at each other. Then later the girl asked the boy to LEAVE...JUST LEAVE WON'T YOU! GO AWAY GO AWAY! And then another boy with the girl was shouting too. There nearly was a fight. I would've loved to watch a fight. =P

2. There were this couple standing near the bus stop, and they were standing in a tango position and the boy was teaching the girl how to tango. In public, next to the bus stop. It sort of looked kind of really hilarious. Cause like she was tripping and stuff.

Gosh. What got into the world today?

Poor newbies.

Today I went to Woden for my health check for my PR application.

And as I was heading home, I overheard this at the Woden Bus Interchange:

Chinese boy: Let's walk to Belconnen!
Chinese girl: No! Let's take the bus. One's in the East and one's in the West? Are you crazy to want to walk that far?
Chinese boy: No...someone told me Belconnen is very near here only.

Poor kids. One has no sense of direction. The other wants to walk from Woden to Belconnen.

'Twas a good day.

Having woken up at 5am today (and slept at 1) I must say I achieved quite some stuff today.

For one I woke up, I filled up my forms all ready for my health check tomorrow. Then I sang so loud that I woke up roomie (ahahha really sorry babe). Then I cleared some of the mess in the room and vacuumed a little.

I then spent pretty much the entire day in the Sports Hall playing badminton for the ACT Sports Carnival.

Singles: Lost 21-12 to this chunted but very nice and friendly girl Lay Boon aka LB.
Womens Doubles: Lost 21-16 to these people who apparently get really scared by my "HA!"s.
Mixed Doubles: I ENTERED FINALS AND WENT AGAINST SUPER GENG CHAO PEOPLE AND MANAGED TO SCORE DOUBLE DIGITS!!! 21-14, 21-12 =) Thank you so so much Yu Jin.

So. In a way I kept a consistency of second place in one category. Last year was Womens Doubles. This year Mixed. Thanks Shuey! Thanks Ah P'ng!

Knowing my own level in the game, you both must've done a lot to keep up with my mistakes. Thank you thank you! =)

And this year, as the committee seemed to be so proud of, I got a silver medal. SURE it's nothing compared to Ah Boy's silver medal in NCG. But hey ho, we beat Abel and Kak Sha for it!!!

And in that last game, Yu Jin really saved SO MANY shots, I was beyond impressed. I mean not that I don't already know that he's like super good la, but to be able to make up for all my shortcomings, thank you.

I suddenly have this feeling that I went from board games addict to sleep addict to...badminton addict.

Looong week.

It's been a long week. With brought forwards of loooong from last week. Making it looongger than it should be.

Canberra Day sales were horrendous. Never will volunteer to work with the same people again, thank you.

Badminton practice might or might not have done me any good. Games tomorrow will most probably prove unfruitful, seeing as super geng chao people are playing and I can pretty much say I don't really stand much of a chance.

On the bright side though, daddy is finally finally finally returning home for good, at least for now it's for good. Knowing him, he might just run off somewhere else again the next time I check in.

On another bright note, it's been a medley of birthdays - Ah P'ng, Zhafir, Sam Chan, Shuey, Daryl. Then there's Wei Liang (happy birthday!) and so many many more to come. Hmmm...March quite the lot ya...just like this other wonderful month called MAY! =) Psst...I wonder what day it is 2 months from now.

As of after tomorrow, I will no longer legally be a student and be officially under bridging visa thus meaning that I am on the role of waiting for an answer. I want to get a job soon...and to do so...*shy* I have to get on my feet and start writing those cover letters!!

I really promise I'll start next week. After all the hype and drama sets down. Really. Really. Like really really.

Legal Migrant.

As of 12:39PM on the 3rd day of the 3rd month of the year 2009, I lodged in my PR application.

And as of 10:42PM on the same 3rd day of the 3rd month, I obtained my bridging visa allowing me to lawfully stay in Australia until a decision on my application has been made.

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!

I hope that in 10 days a case officer will contact me, and let me know that he's working on my application.

And within that 10 days, the ACT government has processed my application and told DIAC their wonderful decision that they are willing to sponsor me.

And 10 days after that 10 days my case officer will let me know that my application has been processed and I am now a permanent resident of Australia.

EEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP~!

*crossing fingers and toes and other body parts*

Submission.

As of about an hour ago, I have submitted my Government Sponsorship application.

I still can't submit my actual PR application because I am SO SMART and forgot to transfer enough money to pay for the application. So while I have EVERY DOCUMENT needed, I don't have the $$$. Silly me.

So well, now I get one extra day for ACT to process my sponsorship. I wrote a long, hopefully convincing story about why they should provide me with the sponsorship. I told about how much I love Canberra and how I would love to stay here. If you want to baca my commitment statement, let me know, and if I decide to, I might just send you a copy. =)

Hopefully the money enters into my account by tomorrow, then I can submit it all up! I have scanned all the required documents, converted some of them into pdfs (as the government sponsorship prefers that) and it's all ready to go! =)

Okay, now off to run those errands that I was supposed to run hours ago.
