Records set. History made.

I drank EIGHT cups of Milo yesterday. Have I earned that reward or have I EARNED that reward? Oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah.

Oh. And this is my two-hundredth post! WOOHOOO! Who knew. When my blog was on blogblock and protest for hmm..a year...who knew it'd revive and be zestier than ever!!

And today, I completed my 2-month training as a Vacation Trainee in PricewaterhouseCoopers Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

And today, erm...I can't think of much. It's still much too early.

If you tune in later, there might be changes to this post!

So, stay tuned! =)

Setting a record.

Having nothing to do in office, and adding to that, very very limited internet access, I have decided. I'm going to set a record.

For the most Milos drank in a day at the office.

It's 11.45am and I'm at my fourth cup.

Yesterday all in all I had five cups. Today I shall have MORE!!! MORE MORE MORE!!!

I will then turn into MILO GIRL! And have powers like MILO Ventimiglia! Weeeee...!!!

The sugar is getting to me, you see.

A driving tip.

The next time you're driving in a REALLY heavy rain and your vision of the road becomes like

to avoid crashing your car into the vehicle in front of you, thus saving your ears from suffering endless blabber about how you should drive carefully in the rain...you should be a more responsible driver...do you know how much the repairs will cost...insurance people won't cover you cause they don't like your name...you killed my wife! and of course saving the accident from burning a hugemongous hole in your pocket from forking all the money out to make the mechanic able to buy a bungalow in Tropicana Heights (or some other expensive place),

all you have to do is....

wear sunglasses.

I'm serious. Just put them on every time your vision gets blurred by the heavenly waters from the skies.

You see, as much as I deduced, as the glasses are dark and tinted, the lights will stand out, making car lights and road lights way clearer and somehow it helps to block out the blurness caused by the rain.

This will work even MORE efficiently when it's dark.

Try it!

Fully PricewaterhouseCoopers-ed.

During the VT Reception yesterday, I "volunteered" to give a short speech about my experience as a VT in the SPA Assurance line of service.

And now, thanks to that "volunteering", I am now equipped with PricewaterhouseCoopers merchandise - PricewaterhouseCoopers cap (which everyone received), PricewaterhouseCoopers net-pouch-thing, PricewaterhouseCoopers Walking Tall notepad, PricewaterhouseCoopers paper clip, PricewaterhouseCoopers bigheaded stapler, and PricewaterhouseCoopers ballpoint pen.

To add to that list, during the induction at the very start of my trainee program, I received a PricewaterhouseCoopers bag, PricewaterhouseCoopers paper folder, PricewaterhouseCoopers (no I'm not sick of typing the word one by one yet) ballpoint pen, PricewaterhouseCoopers Walking Tall notepad and PricewaterhouseCoopers Quench drinking water.

And to still add to that list, I obtained from my senior during my MediaPrima engagement a PricewaterhouseCoopers test pad.

By Thursday, I'll be able to obtain a fully PricewaterhouseCoopers-provided testimonial, with 3 of my PricewaterhouseCoopers appraisal forms, and I can formally add PricewaterhouseCoopers Vacation Trainee to my resume.

Oh, by the way, I have a sure-fire way of allowing your biggest boss (mine would be Dato' Johan, Executive Chairman, PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia) to remember you! Now keep your eyes wide open.

All you have to do is, you have to give a speech and at the start of the speech, thank him for taking him time out for making an experience. Then say "OOPS!" and continue on with the word you meant to say - appearance. And then you do have to conveniently forget one of your punchlines of the day where you DON'T say "VTs are at the bottom of the food chain". And of course, stutter and mess up throughout the speech.

Tried and tested.

NOW, be the 18th sms through to let me know how many PricewaterhouseCoopers were mentioned in this article and you stand to win a goodie bag from zippyapplechunks.blogspot.com!

Send PwC <space> Your Name <space> The Answer and send to 84452. Each sms costs $5. Standard telco rates apply.

Oh. So that's why.

It finally dawned on me why fashionable bags keep getting larger and larger, and skirts/shorts keep getting shorter and shorter.

This is so that...

when the said-wearer-and-carrier sits down, they are able to use their bags to cover up what their skirts/shorts can't.

Like...INGENIOUS!

Know the difference?

Have you always wondered about the difference between all the titles of the royalty?
Why are some Datuk and some Dato'?
Why is one a Tengku and the other a Tunku?
Why are some people Yang Mulia and some others Yang Berbahagia?

I'm sure this will enlighten you.

Happy birthday Shin!

I don't know if you still visit here often, or even if you occasionally drop by.
I don't see you online, and your blog is well...dead..., and I don't know your UK number. *hint* Give it to me ya. =)

But I'd like to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY anyway.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my dear. May your 22nd birthday be one where your wishes are fulfilled, and those who do not know how to appreciate you will feel their loss.

Love you loads and miss you loads.

New Scare Threat.

As kids, our parents always had threats to scare us from doing something that they don't want us doing.

For example, in my family (at least among my cousins), there's the "mata will come and catch you if you don't behave". There's also the "Godzilla come and eat you up" or the "boogie man will catch you if you are naughty" or the "Hor...be naughty lah. Santa won't give you any presents this year.".

Yesterday, I was at the McDonald's in Plaza OUG when there was this girl who was climbing up and down the railings and up and down the chair.

And her father said "You want to end up like Sharlinie is it?" and she sat down quietly straight away.

I know you won't.

I know you don't mean to be mean to me
'Cause when you want to you can make me feel like we belong
We belong
Lately you make me feel all I am is a back-up plan
I say I'm done and then you smile at me and I forget
Everything I said

I buy into those eyes
And into your lies

You say you'll call, but I know you
You say you're coming home, but I know you
You say you'll call, but I know you won't
You say you'll call, but I know you won't

I wish you were where you're supposed to be
Close to me
But here I am just staring at this candle burning out

And still no sound

Of footsteps on my stairs
Or your voice anywhere

You say you'll call, but I know you
You say you're coming home, but I know you
You say you'll call, but I know you won't
You say you'll call, but I know you won't

You say you'll call, but I know you
You say you're coming home, but I know you
You say you'll call, but I know you won't
You say you'll call, but I know you won't

It can't get more emo than this song.

Konsert Tukarkaki.

JOHN won tickets to Switchfoot!!!!

I think he won two.

I wonder who he's going with. *hint*

But so lucky. Sigh. Too bad I can't listen to FlyFM at work. Though it's being aired in the same building as I am.

If not, I also want!!!

I want tickets.

If you have any, and you not planning to go, give me ya. Thanks.

Bowl.

I know the picture is not clear. Can't blame me. My phone (not even really mine) is a pretty cacat phone. But it at least has a camera.

So.
Here's what it says.

SILA AMBIL PERHATIAN

SILA JAGA KEBERSIHAN TANDAS ANDA DAN JANGAN SESEKALI MEMBUANG TUALA WANITA KE DALAM MANGKUK TANDAS (BOWL). KEGAGALAN ANDA MEMATUHI ARAHAN INI MEMBUATKAN MANGKUK TANDAS TERSUMBAT. SO SIAPA YANG SUSAH? ANDA JUGA....

SILA GUNAKAN TONG BIRU YANG TELAH DISEDIAKAN.

TERIMA KASIH.

TOLONG JANGAN PIJAK ATAS BOWL. NANTI PECAH.

It's got fine language and all. Except for the BOWL part. I mean, do people not understand that MANGKUK = BOWL?

Oh, and the SO SIAPA YANG SUSAH. I never knew SO was a malay word.

And I'm telling you. This is one heck of a weird toilet notice. What with the condition of the notice itself and all.

Aiyoyoyoyoyo.

Maybe you've spotted the Rakan Muda ads all over the city, maybe you haven't.
Well, you can go to www.2-u.com.my to check it out anyway.

And so I was really boliao and searching for sites I can enjoy either:

  • laughing at

  • scorning at

  • learn something from

  • past my time with

and I remembered the Rakan Muda site. So I headed there. And I signed up.

Ala, they say got discounts ma, so I never go join the activities also can enjoy the discounts ma, so sign up lah!

And then I had to fill up the Registration Form lo, and I encountered these.

Name Pengguna:

At first I was thinking. Oh, I am the Pengguna, so my name loh. So I happily typed in my full name (as they included something along the lines of separate words with spaces).

Then a few fields later, there was a Nama Penuh so I was like, eh, didn't I type that? And then it dawned on me.

Pengguna = User.

It was asking for a friggin USERNAME. Oh yes, do notice the namE part of it.

And then I continued typing and filling the fields up. Blabediblabeda.

And then there were some boxes to tick at the bottom, and there was one which says
Baca Polici Peribadi

And I was like WHAT? Then my brain goes into AutoTranslationPilot. Ohhh...Personal Policy. *smacks forehead*

Oh no. I'm not done.

So they sent this confirmation email thing, and then I was reading the email.

It told me to follow the pautan. I was like, the what? Till now, I still don't get it.

Link != pautan

Oh. I'm still not done.

So I clicked on the link, and it led me to the page.

Where at my sidebar, I could see:
Profil saya
Log Keluar

Sigh. Is our national language going to perish into nothingness in the foreseeable future?

Oh. Now, I'm done.

Editor tu apa guna?

Spotted nearly everywhere in the building:

Looks like a perfectly normal notice that is put out for all to see.
Now, take a closer look.

My senior commented on this: How to be Illness (or in this case Iillness) Free? Accident Free, can understand la. But illness? What, you going to jap everyone so that they never fall sick ah.

Mommy oh mommy.

Scene: In MediaPrima's MIS Department. Me is surfing the net, reading a blog that is full of pictures (too many, I'd say). Phone vibrates. Screen shows "mommy off m".

Me: Hello?
Mommy: Thaipusam declare another public holiday leh...Hee hee hee hee...
Me: Hehe. I know ya. Saw in the newspaper.
Mommy: Okay bye bye.

Duration of scene: 0:09

Expiry date.

My senior suddenly "OH MY GAWD!"ed me.

And I was like "What? What? WHAT?".

And she says, "I just realised that I'm 2X this year! So old! Darn, I'm not married yet. I planned to get married at 2X-1! Now, I'm past due date already."

Me: Haahhaha!! You're expired!

3.

Have you ever been really dumb?

I don't mean doing stupid things knowingly. Like, cutting your finger to prove that you can bleed.

I mean, err, how do I explain myself.

Okay, best shown with an example.
When I was younger, I used to think I was this great being with superpowers. I learnt in Science class that the Sun was larger than the Earth blabediblabeda. And I was this supreme being because just with my bare two fingers, I can cover up the entire Sun from my sight.

I can imagine the Yoh so dumb! comments spouting from your brains.

Anyone willing to volunteer some of the dumb moments in their lives (and in the process make me feel less alone in this)?

Leave me some comments. You can be anonymous if you wish. I just need to know that there's someone out there who shares the same...emm...same...wavelength. Haha!

Imaginary sounds.

Have you ever heard your phone ring and run to pick it up, only to realise it was all a figment of your imagination?

Or felt a vibration in your pockets or in your bag and rush to get it out, and again only to realise it wasn't real?

Or heard the all-too-familiar degedeng sound of the receival of an instant message even when you're in the kitchen and your computer is far off in a different part of the house?

I have no explanation as to how they happen. I only tell myself it's because I keep hearing it, so its registered in my memory, then it replays itself, like how some words keep ringing in your ears.

Hey, if you've got a more valid scientific explanation, do enlighten me.

For concerned parents.

A few days back, I read articles on The Star about parents being concerned about the material their children are exposed to on the Internet.

Now you don't have to worry if they do traipse by my site. It's safe. =)

Outcome of netsurfing adventure.

So I was netsurfing. Reading Lydia Teh's personal blog la, listening to Hitz online la, visiting all the blogs I normally visit to see if any are updated la, and also visiting random sites.

This site, I got from Chi Diong's page and I was fiddling around then I found this:

I'd say its perfect for Chi Diong's site. Oh, more so Hong Yin's. Haha!

I also saw this:

I'd put it on my sidebar, but it'd be a bit thick-face. So, I'll spare you. =)

But this...this...I approve.

Blessed.

I think I'm blessed to have great bosses. And great seniors. There's Mr Miller, and now in PwC.

My senior manager is this really nice guy, who even recently got awarded the Bravo Award which recognises the contributions of staff in PwC.

Firstly, when he got to know me during the SPA Christmas Party some time back, he asked me where I lived. And after knowing I lived in Kota Kemuning, and also knowing that it was a far way off from civilisation, he was the one who arranged me to work with my current senior. He told me, "This way, you won't have to worry about transportation to and from client's place. Marina can fetch you there and back.".

Today, he came to ask about the progress of our work in MediaPrima, and he treated us lunch, because he won the award la. (With the award comes prize money.)

He found out about the deduction in my pay due to my unpaid leave. And he said, "Aiyo, VT already pay so little, want to be so calculative and deduct some more.". He then told me "Next time if you need to go off, just let me know, and I'll just let you go. No need to go officially apply leave and let them deduct your pay.".

I was like WAH so nice! Although technically I've already had two days of paid leave due to my senior taking leave, which I'm sure he knows of.

So then, he also told me hor, "After this job, I'll just let you stay in office la. Let you relax during your last week." and so I told him, "It's okay, I can follow Marina to her new assignment, cause staying in office, what can I do?". Then he said "Don't know. You can...mingle?".

Haha. Ya right. Mingle with who? When everyone's so busy?

But I'm thankful either way. Must be my good karma. HAHA! =)

Truly Malaysian.

This morning, I had breakfast in a restaurant or rather kopitiam that truly reflects the One Nation, One Race propoganda that our government always repeats.

According to my senior, this kopitiam has been around ever since she was a kid. It used to be a Chinese kopitiam. Now, it's a Malaysian kopitiam.

The shop was made up of Chinese stalls, Malay stalls and Indian stalls as well. And the foods sold included Char Koay Teow (Chinese), Nasi Lemak (Malay) and Maggi Goreng (Indian). And they were all harmoniously selling their respective foods.

As I sat and ate there, I felt "Wow, this is what a country free of racism feels like.". And I really liked the feeling.

Too bad this feeling can't be felt throughout the country.

Another interesting read.

This time, this would suit those who are not as tech-savvy or just do not enjoy the comforts of internet as and when they please.

Head on to your closest bookshop - an MPH, or a Popular, or a Times, or a Kinokuniya, whichever suits your taste, and grab hold of this book entitled Honk! If You're Malaysian by Lydia Teh.

It's great for light reading, for bedtime reading, for any sort of reading lah. It's very Malaysian too. Highlights points specific to Malaysians, our good habits and our bad.

It's hilarious and makes you go "Yaaa...Malaysians always like that wan.".

Makes you feel close to home.

Even Phua Chu Kang (MediaCorp artist) also recommends the book.

Trust me, it'd be worth your money purchasing it.

Very interesting read.

The All American Rejects released their first single from their album Move Along entitled 'Dirty Little Secret'.

And they got the title of this song from this blog called PostSecret, where people mail their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.

If you wish to read more about PostSecret, click here.

There are no archives in this blog, so once there are new posts, the old ones are gone.

It really is an interesting read. Go pop by PostSecret. I've also included a link on the sidebar for future usage.

Papa, come home.

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm

Maybe surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home

And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me

Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home

And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

My mommy says she loves this song, cause it makes her think of my daddy.

My daddy's been working overseas ever since I was young, while he's never been in Paris or Rome, he's been in other places.
And no, he hasn't sent letters with a line or two, emails yes la.

He recently applied for retirement, but his company wouldn't let him go. He was supposed to come back in March, but now I don't know when he'll be back.

My mommy gets very lonely when she's alone at home, and I can't do anything to change that. I mean, can la, but that'd mean I've to stop studying or something.
Plus, daddy needs someone to care for him, since his disease doesn't seem to be heading much towards better.

Papa, come home. I miss you, and I know mommy does too, a lot. Dump the company la. Too bad if they can't survive without you. We can't either.

How to...?

Ever wondered how it feels like to have a neverending spout of mucus and a flammable pit of heat?

All you have to do is to get a nasty flu. Do get the right one which comes with an awful sore throat to get that flame-grilled feeling in your throat.

Or you could make a pact with the devil to switch bodies with me. Terms and conditions apply.

2.

Whilst the previous question did not get much feedback, I shall persevere anyway. Maybe this one might attract more attention. Or not.

Say you're in this scenario, where you're out, say, at a shopping mall. And you meet this person whom you haven't met in at least a year. You never were very close to that person, but you DO know that you both know each other.

Would you go up to the person and say "Hi"? Or at least, try to acknowledge that you've noticed the person? Maybe with a wave, or a simple smile?

Or are you the one who shies away, thinking "You no see me, I no see you too!".

And in another case, if the person does make the first move to say "Hi" first, would you return the favour? Or stare at the person in a who-are-you-why-you-say-hi-to-me way?

1.

To promote the usage of my comments, I have decided to have posts which encourages people to comment and answer questions. I hope I receive some feedback. =)

So today's question is:

WOULD YOU pick up your phone when you're in the toilet?

This popped into my head while I was at the toilet, waiting for a free cubicle, when I heard this lady in the toilet, who picked up her phone and went "Eh nanti la, I tengah berak ni. Tunggu la jap.".

So, would you?

Discrimination against the ugly.

I'm telling you, songs nowadays, either make no sense, or they're attacking some other poor sad people.

Like this Will.I.Am song entitled "I Got It From My Mama". It's got the catchy tune that you'd dance to blablabla. But if you actually listen to the lyrics. Gosh.

And if the mama real ugly, I guarantee she g'on be ugly like her mama
And if the mama real ugly, I guarantee she g'on be ugly like her mama

That's so evil la. And not true also.
But then who are we to judge who's ugly and who's not?

What has the world turned into? *sigh*

New housemates? Wait. HOUSEmates?

I must have been subconsciously thinking bout Chi Diong's accommodation problem plus Ah Boy's concerns bout his new housemates plus (let's say person P)'s blog so much that I had a really really weird dream.

I dreamt that I was in this pretty place. And I was just moving in into this 6-bedroom house. Very spacious. Veryyy nice. And I had 2 housemates. I don't know why only 3 people are living in a 6-room house, but ya. There were 2 housemates. One was Chi Diong, and one was P. Oh, yes, P.

So then we just moved in, and P was getting on my nerves. P is female, by the way. So P was whining and bitching bout the place, while I found the place breathtaking. Cause there was this very pretty lake just right behind the house.

So whilst Chi Diong was busy moving his things in to the house, and P was busy whining, I ran to occupy the best room in the house. The master room. It had the best view, the view of the said lake. Whilst for some really weird reason, the other 2 rooms (the other 3 were like really old and creaky and dilapidated. I don't know why) faced totally different sceneries. One faces this forest. And the other faces roads and buildings.

So in the entire dream, I was just pretty much checking out the house, with a background of P whining and Chi Diong moving things. Oh, and at the same time loathing why I got stuck with P, and happily unpacking my stuff in that reaally nice room.

And then when I was walking to go and scream my head off at P to shut up, my phone rang. My real phone. So I woke up.

It would've been real fun to scream at P. Hee. =)

Better or not?

Tau la I tak de email access at home. So the only chomputer I can see the layout is the IBM one. So don't la blame me.

So, is this better? Or not?

I really don't know. So don't la memarahi me. *pouts*

Laziness wins.

I realised this morning that I have the same template as Ah Boy. And thus I started looking for blog skins on the web. And then I realised I upgraded to the new template thing. So to change to another skin, I have to re-do pretty much everything.

So. WHATEVER.

Maybe sometime this year, with fast speed internet, and a very very strong sense of boredom, together with an interest in HTML and CSS, the skin might change. Otherwise, it's dark blue bubbles for you and for me.

LAZY LAH.

Under construction.

To all,

Blog looks ugly.
Apologies.
Wait till Monday when I have Internet access again.

It will be prettier.

Toodles.

How to...?

How to test if an air conditioning unit is working?
By putting your hand under it and see if there's air coming out of it.

Seriously, the answers that can be provided by a manager who oversees the entire Computer Operations of a large company should really sound a tad bit more professional.

Foncusion Part Two.

"It seems as though they're actually tortoises. Not turtles." Or are they?

One site says turtles no toe-ish thingies. Got fins.

Another site shows a picture of a red eared slider turtle which looks like a long-lost cousin of my kids.

I'm really lost.

I have a GREAT idea.

My boy shalt be Tort@Turt and my girl shalt be Tiss@SheTle.

All worries cleared. They are a mix breed and have the best of both worlds. That's my explanation. Yay.

Foncusion.

I think I need to go to Jabatan Pendaftaran and rename my kids.

It seems as though they're actually tortoises. Not turtles.

Uh oh.

I guess they're still young and haven't gotten used to their names yet. (Not like they ever will, but hey, let's assume they might.)

So my kids, as of now, 6:04PM of 03 January 2008, are REnamed Tort and Tiss.

Way finer names I must say.

My baby boy and my baby girl.

The long thing is not their poo. It's their food. (Hears people go "NO WONDER they're not eating it!")

And my mommy put them in a new room. Will take pictures of them in their new playpen later. If anyone is even slightly interested. =P

Like...sooo coooll!!!

I just finished a meeting with one of the managers of the IT department at Media Prima.

And in the meeting, I found out that there's actually a person who monitors all the TV lineups and the broadcasting and those.

Like soooo coooolll.

I don't think I can say much more, but sooo coooolll...!! =)

Proud mommy of two.

Last Sunday, I became a proud mother of two.

My kids are being very good, staying at home, and having fun in their new room. They seem to have trouble eating though. I think the baby food that I'm feeding them doesn't cater positively to their taste buds. They're a quiet lot. Don't cry a lot. But they sure try very hard to get out of their playpen. Kids are kids. =)

I've got pictures of them. Took like loads. But I have them on my other computer. I'll make sure I put them up tomorrow. I'm so proud of my baby boy and my baby girl.

Oh. I forgot to tell you their names.

Turt and SheTle.

Good customer service is important.

There're many reasons why customers should be treated good. Well, for one, they'd be the one who can help you achieve your profit target.

So when a customer walks into your shop and admires a pretty dress, and her mom says it's pretty too and maybe she could try it on,

DO NOT say that the dress comes only in one size and that it only looks good on skinny people.
