I'm taking this course in uni entitled Financial Reporting of Corporations. And my lecturer is this lady from Hong Kong who goes by the name of Janet Lee.
Her English, like many others from her country, is heavily accented, and musical. Musical in such a way that their sentences are like lyrical. Like they're singing songs when they speak English. Really interesting.
Anyway, during our replacement lecture yesterday (due to a holiday on Wednesday), I took the trouble to listen to her words, and notice how not-correctly pronounced they were. In the process, I discovered how meaningful and totally wrong our lecture was. Wrong not as in not right, wrong as in "Oh, that is soooo wrong!". If you get my drift.
So she says words like blod (broad), assess (assets), potucshen (production), warchers (watches), ditribeaushen (distribution), dos (those), depaytebel (debatable). She also blinks a lot and smiles with every word she says. Smiling is not such a bad thing. But with every word? That's just crossing into scary.
And then after all these mispronounced words, she throws us the big whopper. Probably she didn't do it on purpose. Heck, I knew she didn't. But, hey, you're lecturing. You should watch what you say.
While showing us a question for us to work on in the lecture, she said this:
"Just make it bigger, then we can move it up and down."
(say it with the Hong Kong accent, way cooler)
I mean, you'll say I'm dirty, but take that at face value. How wrong.
To clear your minds up and to avoid any lawsuits, she was talking bout a projection. She was using the projector, and she was trying to fit the entire question in one viewing, but the words were too small, so she had to enlarge it. Then she debated with herself (and with actions) whether to make the words larger or smaller, and then she said THAT.
So, yes, don't worry, ANU is still a good uni. It's so good that they even slip some sex education into your studies. How totally thoughtful.

Lost bike.
The bike that I've been taking for granted is gone.
It's lost.
It's stolen.
Someone took it.
Stupid person la. The bike is so worn out. You need to go and service it before it can be used. Ish. I hope my rusty chains would wear out and break as you cycle it away from where I 'locked' it.
Owh well. I took it for granted. My fault. The thief has taught me a lesson. I will try not to take things for granted anymore. *sigh*

It's settled.
And thus it's settled. Decision made. I'm keeping the camera. I've even bought a memory card for it. A 1GB one summore. And I'm contemplating getting an extension of warranty for an additional charge.
Cost of camera: AUD 198
Cost of memory card: AUD 43.48
Possible cost of extended warranty: AUD 34.95
TOTAL cost (inclusive of possible warranty): AUD 276.43
Conversion to RM (based on 1:3): ~RM 830
Guess that's not too bad huh.
Yaaaaaaaaaaayyy...I am now officially the proud owner of a brand new digital camera.
Credit must definitely go to my ever faithful Di Di, who, due to my tardiness, walked around Civic and into Dick Smith and saw the camera, and told me about it. For without the knowledge of its existence, I wouldn't even have bought it in the first place.

Is it worth it?
I just bought a camera. An Olympus FE-210. All is great with it. Perfect pictures. Nice screen. Movie length limited to memory space. Everything I care about in a camera.
Except one thing. The videos, they're recorded without sound. As in NO sound. So if I take a video of my friend singing, I can't blackmail her, cause she'd look like she was acting out a mime.
So if you know better, could you advise me on whether I should return the product? I have 14 days from today.
I will be going back to the shop tomorrow though. They forgot to give me my memory card. Ish.

Communication difficulties, anyone?
Today at work (I work in a bakery), a customer requested for a chookooroo cheep moofeen.
He was asking for a chocolate chip muffin.
I do not intend to, in any way, criticise anyone or cause hurt to anyone about the way they talk. But, I find it funny, and I hope you do too.
Anyway, as I was saying, there are people who can't seem to pronounce words right. It could be their accent, or their lack of pronounciation classes, or something else. Hey, I'm not saying I'm perfect, I have my times.
But hey, some of these are frequent customers, yet I find them hilarious each and every time they order:
- A chicken mushroom roll becomes a chicken mashimaro roll
- A mushroom and cheese bun becomes a mashirumi and cheese
- A cheese and bacon steak pie becomes a cheese bahkon pie
- A tomato sauce becomes a potato sauce
- A blueberry pie becomes a buhlubelly pie
- A garlic butter scroll becomes a garlic booteer scroll
- A sausage roll becomes a soosej roll
"Can I have FREE donuts prease?"
The customer was asking for three donuts.
But hey, not all the fun is in the customers. There's some among my colleagues as well.
Customer : Hi. I'd like a small chocolate donut please.
Colleague : Oh. Donut? Which one would you like? We have cinnamon ones or iced ones. For iced ones, we have large or small, chocolate, caramel or strawberry.
Now, who wouldn't kill to have my job? =)

Babababallllloooooonnnnnsssss!!!
The 2007 Novotel Balloon Fiesta Australia was held on the Lawns of Old Parliament House from 13th to 16th of April.
Formal introduction aside, it is one of those things that happens in Canberra that we all go gaga over, cause well, there isn't much in Canberra to go gaga about.
So, we (Willy, Diong, Rach and I) went to the place at 5:30am. OH YES, 5:30AM. Cause the event starts at 6am and the roads close then for the Canberra Marathon, which is also going on at the same time.
We went there, the sun has NOT risen and it was all dark-ish, just about to start getting light. It was a pretty sight, though it's not like I've never seen sunrise in Aussie before. With the times that I sleep, it's not all that surprising. Hee.
And then people started to gather, and we just stood around some people who were setting up their hot air balloon.
Oh, did I not mention? The balloon fiesta was about hot air balloons. Not helium, or oxygen. We're not all that sad as to blow up 10 billion balloons and just let them go in the air and call it a balloon fiesta. Though *light bulb lights* that'd be a cool thing too.
And then time passes, we stood in the cold shivering and bouncing like balls, these balloons began to look like balloons instead of wrinkled huge pieces of cloths on the grass. And the process, oh so cool.
There was a house balloon, a football balloon and other more normal-looking ones.
Well, anyway, after that, on the way back, we saw this totally cute balloon. It's MIKE WAZOWSKI! I think that's how you spell it anyway. You know, the short, bright green, one-eyed dude in Monsters Inc.. So totally cute la.
As they were still blowing up Mike, it's claws and teeth would move cause you know, air going in and all that. And I saw this really hilarious thing, a kid was actually frightened of it! He was screaming at his parents, "Aaaahhh I'm scared! I don't want to be near that thing! It scares me!". The funniest part? He was half pushing his pusher trolley back further away from the 'moving' Mike. Well well, I guess Mike would make a good scarer monster too huh.
Ah Boy, you missed it all la. Now wasn't ALL that way better than sleeping?

Monopoly aftermath.
So, it has been concluded. Using debit cards to play Monopoly is not all that fun after all.
Novelty period of debit cards : Short.
But.
But.
But.
It's still great. Really. I have the first edition of non-money Monopoly. I'm part of history. Beat that.

Is it my birthday already?
Yesterday, on the way to shopping at Belco, Diong suddenly told me, "There's a surprise waiting for you."
I was like, "Huh? What? What surprise? Tell tell tell. Where? When? What? Tell tell tell."
Of course he didn't. We humans are evil in that sense. We like to keep people in saspens. Syok kata. Of course not when you're on the saspens end.
Aanyway, we were supposed to go to my place after dinner for games and fun. And Cheok didn't join us for dinner cause she has curry waiting for her.
TAAAAAAA-DAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!
Cheok brought the surprise with her when she came. So now I know, and you know, the surprise is a thing. It's a huge thing. It's a nice thing. It's a wonderful thing. It's a beautiful thing. It's an expensive thing.
It's a Monopoly The Here And Now Edition thing. Complete with debit cards and an electronic banking device thing. It's my first Monopoly thing. (I have a Saidina. It doesn't count.)
I feel so grown up now. I'm a big girl now. I have my own Monopoly set. I now have more responsibilities. Having a Monopoly set is such a huge responsibility. I should move on to something that does not involve the word 'Monopoly' and 'responsibility' cause I'm running out of ways to put them in a sentence.
Well, all the best of luck to those who will be around. May you bear with me through the night and live to tell the tale.

Shopping craze, money waste. @ Shopping spree, money go whee!
Post-easter shopping is like the worst. For my purse and for my size. Chocolate and sweet prices drop like bombs to Pearl Harbour. And the word SALE attracts me like a bee to honey. It's like I look around me and all I see is SALE or SALE 50% OFF or SALE 75% OFF. It all translates to the same thing. BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
SALE = BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
SALE 50% OFF = BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
SALE 75% OFF = BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
BUY ME. YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO. = BYE BYE MONEY
therefore SALE = BYE BYE MONEY
Here's a list of junk that I bought:
- A foot spa.
- About 5 pairs of sandals.
- Junk food.
- More junk food.
- Chocolate eggs.
- More chocolate eggs.
- UNO cards.
- Skip-Bo cards.
- Simpsons chocolate egg which comes with Simpsons giant playing cards.
My sandals range from 50 cents to $2. Great bargain. Cannot NOT buy.
Junk food. Well, junk food speaks for itself.
Chocolate eggs. Price range: 30 cents to $4.50. Original selling price range: $1 to $9. Now I have enough to feed a hundred pregnant ladies' cravings. Woot.

The UNO cards and the Skip-Bo cards are more due to Ah Boy wanting UNO cards, and then seeing the price was $7.75, deciding not to buy it, then me realising it comes with Skip-Bo cards, bought it. Quick thinking. Never good. Doesn't go through the sensible part of the brain.
AND FINALLY, the giant playing cards. They are really GIGANTIC. Like HUGE. Like BIG. Like HUMONGOUS. Like HUGEANTIC. Like BIGMONGOUS. Well. yes, it's big. Larger than my hand even. Very fun to play with. Though very tiring to hold. And novelty of funness of size runs out fast. Especially when hands get weary of stretching far to hold or when cards are so big your opponents can tell your cards from 10 miles away.
Like
Conclusion: Don't bring me shopping when there's sale around. Or you could, and take away my money and my EFTPOS cards. Basically, let me leave the house with my key and my access card. And probably my tissues and my mints and my lip gloss and my MP3 player and my umbrella and my book and my water bottle.

I need a life.
And I'm back.
Many have pestered and many a time have I chosen to ignore. To do something to this blog, I mean. The boredom of the holidays have gotten to me. Shows are starting to bore me. New ones are not creeping up fast enough.
I need a life.
I actually made my friends guilty by saying that they're not spending time with me.
I need a life.
I really should start on my work. I have 3 assignments and an exam to study for. One week of holidays left.
I need a life.
Owh well, who cares. I do have one week of holidays left after all.
