Eulogy for my faithful pencil.

Some time ago, this very faithful and durable pencil of mine passed on. It's now, I'm hoping, in pencil heaven. Where all pencils, which have been dumped and left to perish, gather.

Pencil dear,

You were my most faithful companion. Without you, I'd have a horrible time doing my math. Without you, it'd be hard to draw my sketches during boring classes. Without you, I'd have to rely on those things called pens which have snatched the life of many other close friends of yours. And relying on pens, I'd also have to rely on those things called liquid paper. Which would then cause me to have less money to spend on your food.

Your food expenditure is so much less compared to your companion pens. All you needed was an 80 cents box and I could feed you for 24 meals. And I also get a great deal when I buy your food in bulk. Best part, your food never expires. Great for shelf storage. Pens? Hrmph. Their food dries up after some time in storage. Bad for investment.

Throughout your life, you've been through thick and thin with me. For the entire duration of your life, a good long 7-8 years, we have endured much together. I would never have chosen anything else. You traveled with me, over mountains and seas, to the foreign land I'm in now.

And I'm very sorry that you had to pass on so tragically.

I mourn for you everyday, and hope your successor will perform as well as you did. It's still brand new, new to this world, open to all sorts of evils it may face. I hope it has learnt a little from your experiences.

May you rest in peace.

Dear Cindy's pencil,

I'm so sorry I stepped on you unknowingly while waiting for Brian's bus. I really didn't mean to step on you. I hope you're doing well in pencil heaven. Cindy really misses you.
