That is one of the sayings that I've heard from around somewhere.
And I have recently been put in the position as the receiver.
Personally, I do love compliments, and no one complains about being flattered. However, I never knew how to react towards compliments, what more flattery.
When you say I look nice, or have done a good job, I smile a little, blush a little and say thank you. I would do that, or I would shoot you back a compliment.
But when you flatter me, like...I don't know how...I actually feel uncomfortable. (And all these is being said where I am assuming flattery is a very high praise.) Don't get me wrong, I do love being appreciated. But I just honestly don't know how to react!
So even with mild flattery I get uncomfortable, what more the said "highest form of flattery"?
So, Miss C, as much as we don't get along, it doesn't help that you imitate what I do. It gets on my nerves that you do and doesn't help one bit to the "I don't like you" part.
So, please stop. Thanks.
P.S. Will mentioned that the phrase is supposed to say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" but I just googled them both, and they both do exist. So...I'm going to stick with mine, just so that my contents are still applicable. =P
