Canberra turning into Gotham?

I recently heard this saddening piece of news.

Apparently a lecturer was assaulted by a person (I'm guessing student) with a knife late one day around 8.30pm.

The outcome, I do not know, but the lecturer was not harmed (not seriously, anyway).

But the fact that these things are happening, that I now have to watch my back while I travel the safe streets of Canberra, I do not like. I love this place, for the security it provides me, for the safe environment, amongst many other things.

And if one day, should it turn unsafe like big cities such as Sydney or KL, I might fled town and run to an even more remote area. And THAT is something I definitely do NOT look forward to.
